Typefaces
D-REC's interface is set in Archivo and DREC Mono. Both are licensed under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1, and both ship with the app as WOFF2 files cut down to a Latin subset. Each file still carries its copyright line and the licence's address.
DREC Mono is IBM Plex Mono with two changes: it holds a Latin subset of IBM's characters, and two hyphen characters it lacked now draw its own hyphen. The licence reserves the name "Plex" for IBM's own versions, so this changed copy has a name of its own. The letters are IBM's.

Speech recognition, in the browser
On the web, D-REC runs speech recognition through Transformers.js (Apache License 2.0) and ONNX Runtime Web (MIT License), loaded from a public CDN at the moment they are used rather than redistributed inside D-REC. The speech models themselves are OpenAI's Whisper weights (MIT License), fetched the same way and cached by your browser.
On a computer with a capable graphics card, an optional reader can write the titles and summaries. It is off unless it is switched on, and it uses Qwen2.5-0.5B-Instruct by the Qwen team at Alibaba Cloud (Apache License 2.0), in the ONNX conversion published by the onnx-community, fetched the same way.
Because these are fetched rather than bundled, D-REC is not redistributing them; they are named here so it is clear what runs on your machine and where it comes from.
The desktop applications
The Mac and Windows applications are built on Electron (MIT License), which embeds Chromium, Node.js and FFmpeg, with their many contributors' licences. Those licences ship inside the application itself, as LICENSE.electron.txt and LICENSES.chromium.html: on Windows in the folder the program is installed to, and on the Mac inside D-REC.app/Contents/Resources. LICENSES.chromium.html carries the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1, that FFmpeg is distributed under.
The desktop app also carries these open source packages, with the licence file each one publishes kept beside it inside the app (lazy-val, by Vladimir Krivosheev, publishes none; its package declares the MIT License): argparse (Python Software Foundation License 2.0), builder-util-runtime, debug, electron-updater, fs-extra, jose, js-yaml, jsonfile, lazy-val, lodash.escaperegexp, lodash.isequal, ms, tiny-typed-emitter and universalify (MIT License), graceful-fs and semver (ISC License), and sax (Blue Oak Model License 1.0.0).
On the iPhone
Speech recognition and summaries use Apple's own on-device frameworks, provided as part of iOS. The sound line uses Apple's built-in sound classifier. The app also includes:
- Capacitor by Drifty Co. (MIT License), the shell the app runs in. Its iOS part includes code from Apache Cordova (Apache License 2.0), whose notice is reproduced below.
- Capacitor Haptics by Ionic (MIT License).
- Speech Recognition for Capacitor by Priyank Patel and the Capacitor Community (
@capacitor-community/speech-recognition, MIT License). Its licence file leaves the copyright line blank and is reproduced below as published. D-REC ships it with a small change of its own. - FluidAudio by Fluid Inference (Apache License 2.0), which reads who spoke when. It is built into the iPhone app and includes fastcluster by Daniel Müllner and Google Inc. (BSD 2-Clause License, reproduced in full below) and a port of VBx by BUT Speech@FIT (Apache License 2.0).
On Android
The Android app is the same web app inside Capacitor's Android shell by Drifty Co. (MIT License), with Capacitor Haptics and Speech Recognition for Capacitor as on the iPhone. It also includes:
- the Apache Cordova Android framework (Apache License 2.0), which Capacitor's Android shell builds on; its notice is reproduced below.
- AndroidX libraries from the Android Open Source Project (Apache License 2.0), with the Kotlin standard library and kotlinx.coroutines by JetBrains (Apache License 2.0), which AndroidX builds on.
- Google Play's In-App Review library and the Play Core common library it builds on, used under the Play Core Software Development Kit Terms of Service, and the Google Play services basement and tasks libraries they build on, used under the Android Software Development Kit License.
- Google Play's Billing Library, through which D-REC Pro is bought in the Android app, with the Google Play services base, location and place report libraries it builds on, all used under the Android Software Development Kit License, and Google's Data Transport libraries, the Firebase encoders and
javax.injectthat it also builds on (Apache License 2.0).
Who spoke when, and the sound line
These models are downloaded to your device the first time the feature runs and are not part of D-REC's own files. They are named here with their licences and authors, as their licences ask.
- On the iPhone: the speaker diarization models from FluidInference/speaker-diarization-coreml, which are modified Core ML conversions by Fluid Inference of the pyannote speaker-diarization-community-1 pipeline by pyannote, with its speaker embedding model from the WeSpeaker project and PLDA parameters from Brno University of Technology, Speech@FIT. Licensed under CC BY 4.0. The models' notice and citations are published with them.
- On the web and the desktop: pyannote segmentation 3.0 by pyannote (MIT License), and the WeSpeaker ResNet34-LM speaker embedding model by the WeSpeaker project, licensed under CC BY 4.0, both as ONNX conversions published by the onnx-community.
- The sound line on the web and the desktop: the Audio Spectrogram Transformer fine-tuned on AudioSet by Yuan Gong, Yu-An Chung and James Glass (BSD 3-Clause License), in the ONNX conversion by Xenova.
D-REC uses these models as published and does not change them. Nothing you record is sent to their authors or to anyone else.
