A closed set is closed for reasons that have money and lawyers behind them. Uploading the audio of an unreleased production to a transcription service is, at minimum, a conversation with somebody in legal. Usually it is just not allowed.
D-REC records and transcribes on the device and sends nothing anywhere, which makes it usable in rooms where the cloud tools are simply off the table.
It is built around the way a take actually works. The wheel scrubs like tape. Marks drop at the playhead with one key. Chapters break a long roll into something you can scan, and the transcript is timed so a note points at a moment rather than describing one.
It runs on the laptop on the cart and on the phone in your pocket, and it exports markers for the edit, so what got noticed on the day is still attached to the frame it happened on.
Everyone on a set knows who is responsible for consent and clearance. That does not change here; it stays with you.

Can this be used on a closed set?
Nothing recorded is uploaded, so there is no third party receiving the material. Whether a given production permits any recording device is a production decision.
Does it export into an edit?
Yes, as timeline markers for DaVinci Resolve, plus text, Markdown and CSV.
Does it work without signal?
Yes. Recognition runs on the device, so no bars is not a problem.
