How D-REC differs from cloud transcription services

An honest comparison: where a local recorder wins, and where a cloud service is genuinely the better tool.

Cloud transcription services are good at what they are for. If you need a shared workspace where a team comments on the same transcript, speaker labels across hundreds of hours, or a human-verified transcript at publication accuracy, a service that does exactly that will serve you better than D-REC will. That is a real answer and we would rather give it than pretend otherwise.

D-REC is for the other case: when the audio should not leave the device. Recognition runs locally, so there is no upload, no queue, and no account holding your recordings. It works with the network off, and it works in rooms where uploading the material would be a policy problem or a legal one.

Where a cloud service is clearly ahead: speaker identification, collaborative editing, and guaranteed accuracy on difficult audio. Speech recognition makes mistakes here as everywhere, and you should check anything that matters.
